This week in English we have continued our text of the Stone Age Boy and used it to expore the features of writing recounts. First we brainstormed in pairs and then as a class how the boy might have felt when he first met Om. The children then completed a similiar activity in pairs exploring how Om felt when she first saw the modern boy. We extended the activity to look at synonyms for their feelings and learnt how to use a thesaurus to improve our choice of words when writing. In addition we have considered the differences between adjectives, adverbs and adverbials and how to use them in our writing to add extra detail and paint a picture of the scene to the reader.
