Evacuee Day

Lesson: History

The Children thoroughly enjoyed dressing up as an evacuee and being evacuated to Davenham from the inner cities of Liverpool, Manchester, London and Coventry. The children learnt what it would have been like to be a child during the war: how evacuees were treated; what a typical school day consisted of and expectations and discipline during those times. They undertook a range of activities including: air raid preparations; baking war-time recipes; learning about rationing; tasting and evaluating war-time food; learning about other key events during the war for Britain (the battle of the atlantic, D Day landings and the Blitz).
