PE Mrs Oakes / Mr Jackson 2019 - 2020

Mrs Oakes

.

Welcome to 2019-20 and a new year of

sport for our school.

We have so many sporting events on

the calendar and lots of fun and

engaging PE lessons planned.

It's wonderful being able to start this

year with a feeling of pride, after

being awarded the Gold School

Games Mark.

We are going to continue to build on

this by giving more children the

opportunity to participate in sporting

events and clubs throughout the year.

Thank you so much for your support

for sport in our school

Mr Jackson & Mrs Oakes

....................................................................................................................................................................................

We have been awarded GOLD School

Games Mark for the first time!

Throughout the year, our staff have been

getting as many children involved in

sporting activities, officiating, before &

afterschool clubs, taking on sporting

challenges, becoming Break-time

Leaders, representing our school at

sporting events and improving on their

sporting skills and all round fitness.

We have taken more children out to

sports events than ever before and have

won our cluster finals at Quad kids

Athletics, Cricket, Football & Hockey.

Sports Week saw over 100 children try

new sporting challenges which we all

enjoyed. Our children have been a

pleasure to take to events and we are

proud of each and every one of them.

Thank you for your continued support for

sport in our school.

We are already up and running with

plans for events in September!

Sprinting into our final term of sport!

What a marathon of sporting events we have been taking part in....

Football, Cricket, Rounders, Tennis, Athletics and Swimming,

all of them with amazing children who really do shine when it

comes to trying their best at sport.

Sports Week was an adventure of mahoosive proportion with

over 130 children invited to represent the school at a wide

variety of sporting activities throughout the whole week.  We

saw lots of new faces enjoying sporting activities outside of

school for the first time. We were very proud of everyone who

took part.

Alongside Sports Week, children back at school were staying

active fun breakfast and afterschool clubs, daily mile

activities, active breaks and busy PE lessons.

We have been celebrating sporting achievements in

assemblies with lots of children being awarded Sporting Hall

of Fame certificates.

We are so proud of everyone who has taken part in sports

during the past year, and are looking forward to planning

more exciting sporting adventures for September.

Mr Jackson will be introducing new

sporting clubs for before & afterschool. Keep an eye out on the school News Letter

and on the PE notice board for what clubs are available.

We have a very busy final term ahead with sporting events, school games days and Sports Week, it's going to be fun!

Here is what has been happening with our Sports Teams...

The Golden Mile  -  Our children are amazing!

This was the feeling we got as we watched over 40 pupils run around a

very muddy Leftwich High School field.  Our children were split into 3 age

groups and were given the challenge of running a specified Cross Country

distance.  It had rained heavily all weekend, making the course a little

muddy! But this didn't dampen their enthusiasm as they raced their way

around the course with muddy legs and huge smiles on their faces.

We had amazing performances from everyone who took part

and congratulations to the following children for coming in the top 3 of

their group...

Thomas Kinder,  Cian Nancollis,  George Grattage,  Stanley Scott

Sports Hall Athletics FINAL

We took a large team of 20 children to the Cluster Final held at UCAN.

Schools from all over Vale Royal ran, jumped and threw their way to gain valuable points for their teams.  Our team were amazing and worked really hard with each other, especially in the relay events where the changeover is the key to success.  We had been working on this element in PE as it can be tricky, especially when the adrenalin is pumping, but our teams didn’t let it phase them and performed their changeovers perfectly.

Our team came a very credible 5th place in a tough field of athletes and we couldn’t have been more proud of them.

5-6 Sports Hall Athletics  -  A new year saw 16 children represent the school at

Leftwich High.  The children took part in field events and track events pushing, themselves to

achieve good times and measurements to help their team through to win 1st Place and ticket

to the final! Well done team to everyone involved.

5-6 Quick Stix Hockey - A cold drizzly evening and 2 teams of children having fun with

hockey sticks!  A tough final meant that the A team had to dig deep, but they showed that

teamwork really is the key to success and played the ball between themselves, working

towards the goal each time resulting in them winning the tournament.

3-4 Mixed Football FINAL - The dark evenings of November saw our team play in the

final at Hartford High with 12 other teams from Vale Royal. The competition was strong but

our boys fought through until the end and came away with a very well deserved 3rd place.

They were also awarded the Spirit of the Games certificate for Sportsmanship, Well done

boys, we are very proud of you all.

3-4 Girls Football  -  Another chilly afternoon out with a small team of girls and a

football.  Some of our girls had never played team football before but this didn't stop them

getting involved and helping their team to victory.  The girls won all bar 1 of their matches with

the other being drawn.  They all came home with huge smiles on their faces, a Winners medal

and the excitement for the final to come.  Well done girls, you were fantastic!

2K Fun Run  -  We took 36 children to a new event for Vale Royal, a 2K fun run around

the fields of Moss Farm.  All of the children wore pink t-shirts and were set off in waves, it

really was a sea of pink, happy faces as over 1300 children ran around the course.

5-6 High 5 Netball  -  The netball courts were again swamped with Davenham

children, when we took 3 teams to the cluster event. Some very enthusiastic play was shown

and a lot of children experienced competitive netball for the first time.  Our A team fought their

way through to the final where they were beaten by a strong Leftwich Team.  Well done to

everyone who played.

5-6 Tag Rugby  -  2 teams of children were welcomed by Northwich Rugby club for a fun

afternoon playing & learning about Tag Rugby.  An really enjoyable event with lots of new

skills achieved.

Year 3/4 Mixed Football   -  Mr Jackson & Mrs Oakes took a team of very enthusiastic football

players over to Winsford Academy to compete against other schools in a football tournament.  The

tournament was played in 3 leagues with the top 2 teams from each league winning a place in the
