Sports Relief 2016

Date: 19th Mar 2016 @ 3:50pm

On Friday 18th March Davenham Primary School supported Sports Relief and Dosh for Downs by having as much sporting fun as possible!

The day began with Mr Leeman's challenge; he left his house on the Wirral at 6am and cycled 29miles towards school. After that he was met with a team of parents who ran with him for the remaining 3 miles, making a very grand entrance into the playground to be met with 300 children and staff who were proudly cheering him on! All the money raised from this will be shared equally with the 2 charities. Well done Mr Leeman!

The children came to school dressed as their sporting hero or in odd socks to help raise more funds so a big thank you goes to parents/carers for supporting us.

The children had a Sports Relief Assembly where they learnt the dance moves to Step it Up. Then the children performed this altogether along with a very excited Miss Phillips.

Then the children took part in a range of physical maths activities; fractions quizzes linked to sporting heroes, measuring jumps and throws, playground venn diagrams, how many star jumps in a minute, shape sorting and different number games.

To end a very busy afternoon the children went outside in groups to join Mr Leeman in different relay races.

I'm sure some very happy but tired sporting children arrived on home on Friday night! It was a wonderful day and the children behaved impeccably all day, well done everyone.
