Non-chronological reports - Anderson shelters

Date: 27th Oct 2016 @ 6:09pm

This week in English, Year 6 have been learning about non-chronological reports. We found the features of a non-chronological report about Anderson shelters and then spent some time in the ICT suite researching some facts about Anderson shelters. We then learnt about cohesive devices that we could use to help our writing flow, including fronted adverbials, conjunctions, pronouns and subordinate openers. We then practised using these to make our writing flow nicely and to link our sentences together. Finally, we spent a session planning the layout and structure of our non-chronological report ready to get started writing! We have learnt so much about a topic that we have all found really interesting. Make sure you ask all about your child's favourite Anderson shelter fact!
