Mrs Manfredi's Big Maths

Date: 18th Sep 2016 @ 9:45am

In Big Maths this week we have been learning about number place value. We have done this through a series of games and written work. We practiced reading and writing three and four digit numbers in words. We played order order and were given cards with three or four digit numbers on them and we had to order ourselves from largest to smallest. We even played with number cards dealing three cards each and re-arranging the digits to make the highest possible three digit number. We then compared this to our partners number to determine which was the largest number and why and used the mathematical greater than, less than and equal signs to represent our findings in our book. Someof us even extended this to four digit numbers! Another time we looked at finding missing numbers applying our place value knowledge and knowledge of partitioning. We also did some work finding 10, 50 and 100 more or less than a given three digit number. We even got given our first lot of maths homework, but its not due in until Tuesday!
