KS1 Inter-Faith Week

This week we have been learning about Buddhism and the children have dressed up in orange clothes as the Buddhist Monks wear this colour.

We started the week learning some facts about Buddhism and we listened to the story of Buddha. The children then went away in teams to act out the story and later presented this to the class.

The children have also been able to learn how to meditate and they then made their own calming water. During this time the children also performed yoga whilst trying to clear their minds.

We created a piece of art work using oil pastels to create a lotus flower which is important to Buddhists because it shows something beautiful can grow in unexpected places.

Finally we learnt about the Dharma Wheel which shows the 8 values Buddhists live by. In our classes we discussed the values we feel are most important to us and the children went away and created their own wheels.

It has been a fantastic week and the children and teachers have thoroughly enjoyed the activities. We would like to say a huge thank you to the parents and carers for sending in water bottles to make calming water and for dressing the children in orange clothes.
