GO WITH THE FLOW

Date: 5th Jan 2016 @ 12:45pm

Hello and welcome back,

I hope you have all enjoyed the Christmas break. The children have been very excited to share their wonderful stories.

For the Spring Term our topic will be 'GO WITH THE FLOW'. This is a whole school topic and KS1 will explore this theme all Spring.

They will enjoy a visit to the Blue Planet Aquarium, invite their parents in to school to make boats, dress up like pirates and act out stories in the pirate ships in the classrooms, learn about Christopher Columbus as well as work with Mrs Hyslop to improve their art skills. I am sure you will agree it is going to be a very exciting term for the children!

KS1 will welcome a student teacher (Mr Jackson) on the 18th January, he will be working predominately within Miss Phillips' class but I am sure all of KS1 will get the chance to meet him during his time at Davenham.

Homework for this term:

Y1: Weekly spellings that link to the rule taught in school to practise at home but not to be tested. 10 spellings to be tested half termly. Reading.

Y2: Weekly spellings that link to the rule taught in school to practise at home but not to be tested. 10 spellings to be tested half termly. Reading. Times tables (starting at Bronze for the x10).

For more information on this topic and dates for your diary for the Spring Term, please see the attached files.

Thank you

The KS1 Team

12/01/16: Something very exciting happened this week .. a message in a bottle was found washed up in the KS1 classrooms. When we opened the message it said HELP! The children then wrote their predictions about who needs help and where the bottle has come from. We have started reading our class book 'Sir Charlie Stinky Socks and The Pirate's Curse', visit Sir Charlie's website to find out more. http://www.sircharliestinkysocks.co.uk/
